RESTORE LOOSE LEAF TEA — contains organic botanicals high in vitamin C, antioxidants and antimicrobial properties. This gentle citrusy-sweet brew combines lemon myrtle, rosehip and hibiscus flavours, and supports vibrant health and immunity.

Ingredients:

Lemon myrtle / hibiscus / echinacea / marshmallow leaves / rosehip.

Therapeutic benefit:

Echinacea (Echinacea spp.) Echinacea is a well known immune stimulant. This is due to it containing many active chemicals which have the ability to act as a lymphatic, antibacterial and antiviral. Echinacea reduces inflammation, improves resistance to infections and helps repair tissue damage.

Marshmallow leaf (Althea officinalis) helps to soothe the length of the gastrointestinal tract by it’s effective demulcent activity. It has traditionally been used in pharyngitis and conditions where a dry cough is present. Marshmallow leaf has been found to strengthen the immune system by helping to remove toxins, and therefore raising the overall resistance to disease.

Lemon Myrtle (Backhousia citriodora) is a beautiful Australian native. It has been used traditionally for sinus infections, bronchitis and irritable digestive disorders. Lemon myrtle may gently stimulate the digestive processes and reduce symptoms such as bloating and cramping. Lemon myrtle is also used as a potent antioxidant, reducing free radicals throughout the body.

Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis) has traditionally been used to regulate fluid balance and promote overall health. It has been found to improve skin conditions, promote adequate circulation and improve digestive issues. These amazing benefits come from the phytochemistry of the plants, as it contains citric acid, malic acid, anthocyanins and quercetin.

Rosehip (Rosa canina) is very rich in vitamin C and flavonoids, which are responsible for it’s antioxidant effect. Antioxidants prevent cellular damage caused by oxidation. Rosehip is a source of lycopene, an antioxidant that has been found to protect the cardiovascular system. Vitamin C and vitamin A are both found in rosehip, which are vitamins that are both immune stimulating, preventing bacterial and viral infection.

Lemongrass / papaya pieces / ginger / cinnamon

Therapeutic benefit:

Lemongrass (Cymbopogon) has a cooling energy, and has been found to improve digestion by lessening stomach cramps and spasms, and reducing bloating and flatulence. Lemongrass may also improve circulation to increase energy. Lemongrass is high in antioxidants. Antioxidants scavenge free radicals from the body’s cells, and prevent or reduce the damage caused by oxidation.

Papaya fruit is an excellent source of folate and vitamins C, A and E. It also contains calcium, iron, riboflavin, thiamin and niacin. Papaya is very rich in the antioxidant nutrients flavonoids and carotenes. All nutrients have been found to aid in energy production.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a stimulating tonic for the digestive system. It has been found to reduce cramping, gas and nausea. Ginger has been indicated for motion sickness and morning sickness in pregnancy for hundreds of years. Ginger increases peripheral circulation which increase blood flow, helps to detoxify the body from toxins,  and stimulates oxygen transport to the body’s cells. Chamomile (Matricaria recutita) is specific for all gastrointestinal disturbances associated with a nervous system connection. Chamomile is great in the treatment of IBS and colitis. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory which makes it useful in almost any condition. Chamomile is the perfect addition for serenity as has been found to be affective in the treatment of mild anxiety, insomnia and other nervous system conditions.

Rose (Rosa)  is fragrant, fruity and packed with vitamin C and antioxidants. This means it scavenges free radicals that cause cellular damage.

Lavender (Lavendula officinalis) is an effective herb for headaches, especially when they are related to stress. It has traditionally been used in the treatment of depression, especially if used in conjunction with other remedies. Lavender is a gentle strengthening tonic of the nervous system.

Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) is traditionally used for its mild sedative and soothing properties, anxiety, stress management and for insomnia- making it perfect for our serenity blend. It is used in clinical practice to support regular sleep patterns, nervous tension and restlessness and headaches.

Tulsi / nettle leaf / dandelion leaf / red clover / corn flowers

Therapeutic benefit:

Tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum)  has traditionally been prescribed to purify the blood and support cleansing of the liver. Tulsi has been found to have an adaptogenic property, that is, that it assists the body to cope during times of stress. Tulsi has been used for anxiety and to support the adrenals. Tulsi fights free radical damage, so this means it acts as an antioxidant in the body.

Nettle Leaf (Urtica dioica) is also known as stinging nettle. Nettle leaf is highly anti-inflammatory and a great detoxifier. The consumption of nettle leaf has been found to reduce inflammation in the body, and support the detoxification processes of the liver and kidneys. Nettle leaf is a great plant source of minerals- in particular iron.

Dandelion leaf (Taraxacum officinalis). The leaves of dandelion are used to assist in the removal of uric acid by the kidneys. This cleansing action is used in the treatment of skin conditions such as acne, rosacea and eczema. Dandelion is a source of vitamin A and many minerals.

Red clover (Trifolium pratense) Red Clover’s main use is in detoxification. It’s main actions are assisting the liver to rid the body of toxins. This quality makes Red clover very useful in many skin conditions including acne, rosacea and eczema.

The Rooibos Turmeric Chai Tea is the perfect caffeine-free Indian chai masala. With Rooibos Tea’s flavonoids adding rich antioxidant benefits as well as its proven liver tissue regeneration, the sweet and slightly nutty flavour of rooibos is the perfect accompaniment to chai. Turmeric has been added for its main constituent’s (curcumin) strong liver antioxidant properties, as well as it exerting significant anti-inflammatory effects throughout the body.

Rooibos Tea is native to South Africa, where they drink on average 9 cups per day! Rooibos is high in flavonoids, protecting the cells against free radicals, and aids in liver tissue regeneration.

Therapeutic benefit:

Peppermint (Mentha Piperita) has excellent antispasmodic actions, calming and soothing the entire length of the digestive tract. Peppermint has been found to relieve intestinal colic and flatulence by its relaxing effect on smooth muscle. Due to it’s antimicrobial activity, peppermint may also help fight off infections such as the common cold and influenza. The volatile oil in peppermint acts as a mild anaesthetic to the stomach wall which may help with feelings of nausea during travel.

Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) has been used for many years as a general body tonic. Licorice  has been found to in particular tonify the adrenal glands, which may help your body to cope in times of stress. Licorice aids in the digestive processes by soothing inflammation in the stomach and intestines, creating a  healing barrier. Licorice is also a known great anti-inflammatory.

Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) is one of the most effective carminitives, which helps to relieve digestive cramping and spasms. It relaxes the smooth muscles of the intestines which may relive griping and flatulence. Fennel is also an effective anti-inflammatory herb, helping the function of the digestive system furthermore. Fennel has been found to have a beautiful effect on infant colic for breastfeeding mothers.

Calendula (Calendula officinalis) also known as Marigold has many medicinal actions. When taken internally, calendula is anti-inflammatory, and especially has it’s effects on the length of the digestive system. Calendula is an extremely safe herb, and has had remarkable effects even on children. Calendula has been found to exert very beneficial effects on healing the gastric mucosa.
